Realme 7 vs Realme 7 Pro: What's the difference?

Realme has launched two new affordable phones and the latest - like all Realme phones - can promise higher performance and capabilities than their modest price tag.
Historically, Realme has used many of the same technologies as Oppo and OnePlus - being part of the same family of companies - but brings them at a much lower cost, along with saving money on manufacturing costs and quality components.

To this end, Realme has now launched the Realme 7 and the Realme 7 Pro, both of which sit comfortably below the £300 mark. But what is the difference between the two phones of the series? Dive in to find out.

Design

  • Realme 7: 162.3 x 75.4 x 9.4 mm (196.5g)
  • Realme 7 Pro: 160.9 x 74.3 x 8.7 mm (182g)
  • Realme 7: Physical fingerprint sensor on the side
  • Realme 7 Pro: In-display fingerprint sensor
  • Realme 7: Mirror White and Mirror Blue colours
  • Realme 7 Pro: Mist White and Mist Blue colours
Being in the same series means that both the phones have the same design, same port layout on the bottom edge, volume buttons on the right side and a similar frosted finish at the back. But, there are some major differences.
It is sometimes a bit taller, wider and thicker than the Realme 7 Pro and also a bit heavier. The reasons become clear when we look at the hardware a bit further down the feature (spoiler: bigger battery).

Other differences include the fact that the Realme 7 has a physical fingerprint sensor built into the power button on the right edge of the phone. The Pro model uses an in-display optical sensor.
While similarly the design of the camera housing on the back is also different. The Realme 7 has all four sensors in one column, making the protruding rectangle taller and thinner than the Pro, which instead places one of the low-resolution cameras adjacent to one of the two main cameras.

There are two different colors available for each model. The Pro comes in Dark Mist Blue and Mist White, while the Realme 7 comes in Mirror Blue and Mirror White.

Display

  • Realme 7: 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD display
  • Realme 7 Pro: 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display
  • Both: Full HD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution
  • Both: Single hole-punch camera cutout
Both the phones have completely flat screens at the front and a single hole-punch camera cutout for the selfie camera in the top left corner. They both also come with Full HD+ resolution, but that's where the similarity ends.

The larger 6.5-inch display on the regular Realme 7 uses LCD technology to save costs (and that explains the lack of an in-display fingerprint sensor). It is also a high refresh rate 90Hz panel.

For the Realme 7 Pro, that uses a Samsung-supplied AMOLED panel, which means it's brighter and more vivid, as well as deeper blacks. It's small - at 6.4-inches - and 'only' has a 60Hz refresh rate, but compensates for this with a 180Hz touch sampling rate. This should still mean faster response to touch input and gestures.
